Hi.
This page is my attempt at the title of the coolest guy on the planet. In reality I'm using this site as an experiment in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) methods to promote web sites and pages so don't be concerned about my apparent vanity. This page first went live at 4.00 am on Saturday 30th of July 2005. Let's see how fast I can get to number one in Search rankings for this page and this site!
October 22, 2005 - Ranking Progress
Today I received a message from Google Alert saying this site, with it's new hosting, has been indexed and has been given an intitial search rank of #35. No too bad for a debut but let's see how quickly (or how painfully slowly) I head back towards the coveted Number One position. Being the 35th Coolest Guy on the Planet just does not have the same ring to it!
October 21, 2005 - Hosting Problems but a Google PageRank!
The bad news is that the primary hosting location of this page died. This means that my No.1 Google result ranking has gone. How unfair is this? Just because the page was gone my ranking went too! This page is no longer at www.icuip.iconrate.net/coolestguyontheplanet.com, they were a good free host but have simply evaporated (is that the right technical term?). I have changed hosts to GoDaddy so I now have a fully hosted paid domain location. With no more redirects I should get better rankings on other search engines too, as some search engines don't like redirected domain names.
The good news is that I now have an official Google PageRank. This page is now ranked 4 out of a possible 10. This is a great result for a brand new page and domain which is now just shy of three months old. I'm aiming for a 6 or 7 as I believe a 9 or 10 is only achieved by sites like Yahoo, CNN or IBM. Buy hey, I can always think big and dream even bigger!
September 29, 2005 - The Coolest Guy on the Planet!!!
After just two months at the job my humble site has been listed at number one, that's a big ONE position! I am now officially "the coolest guy on the planet", according to Google. I'm no SEO expert by any measure but I have learnt a few things along the way and have done my best at implementing this knowledge on my site.
The goal was to start with a fresh site, target a specific phrase and attempt to achieve optimum page ranking. Of about 648,000 possible results for this phrase I am in number one position. Now if people wanted to buy items based on this phrase I could do nicely don't you think? This has been a fun exercise now let's see how long I can stay in the top position in the rankings.

What is my real job?
Fooling around with the Internet is just a hobby but all the coolest people on the planet do the same don't they? I drive an electric transport machine in a large warehouse and load pallets onto trucks to pay the bills.What am I going to do after being designated Coolest Guy on the Planet?
Well this little site might just become the start of lots of fun in perfecting my Internet marketing skills. Just by actually being the coolest guy on the planet shouldn't change my life but it will be fun...
It might take me a bit longer to become the coolest guy on the planet than the current holder of this title but I'll give it a good shot with this little site.
True coolness is not found on the Net but in the saving grace of Jesus. In our sins we are very "uncool" but in being right before God by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross we are truly cool!

If you want to try and get your own page ranking Google success just follow a few simple steps. Your webpage should have just the keywords in the first <h1> and second <h2> level headings. These keywords should also be found in every one or two paragraphs throughout the page. The page should be useful too as popular pages rank highly (much as we'd expect!).
Off page linking is the real goal however. There must be a good collection of quality websites linking back to yours using your keywords to increase your page rank. If you have good content then then you are more likely to get good and numerous links.
